Pandas are usually born in August because their mating season is between March and May, with a gestation period of 3-5 months. Females mainly produce two offspring, but onl the stronger one survives in the wild. However, in captivity, the other twin can be hand-reared and swapped regularly withthe mother so she can raise two cubs with each pregnancy.
